Ford Escape 2001 Brakes are soft?
I have a Ford ecape 2001 with a soft brake issue.
The system has been bleed though with fresh fluid, the reservoir is full and there's no leak in the system.
I have replaced one of the front calipers, the read drums, the master cylinder and the booster but i can still push the brake all the way to the floor and get very little braking force.
The flexible hoses at each wheel look in resonable condition as well.
Any thoughs on what could be the reason would be really appriciated.
Takes two people to bleed the brakes properly.
one person under the car making sure that at least 4 pumps of the foot makes sure there are no air bubbles in the fluid coming out of the bleed screw. Tell the person in the driver seat when to stop and start.
have you used 2 people for this process?
if not, you may still have air in the lines.
Generally speaking if you're sure there's no leaks and the reservoir remains full the probable cause is a bi-passing master cylinder. The seals in the master weaken and allow the fluid to slip by inside the cylinder instead of being forced out to the calipers or wheel cylinders. The cure is a new one.
Another possibility is a leaking vacuum booster but the master is more likely.
- 2001 Ford f150 and 2001 Ford mustang gt exhaust sound comparison question? Why is it that even though both these vehicles have the same motor in them even with the same aftermarket exhaust the mustang and f150 still sound different? Its the same motor right? Should get the same sound?
- 2000 ford expedition soft breaks, Needs to be bled. Price? The breaks on the truck i'm getting listed above are soft they work but the pedal goes all the way down and i was told they need to be bleeded how much would this be to get done? Its below 10 degrees out and i can't do it now since i have no garage or place to do it in.
- Why is my 2001 Ford Escape not accelerating fast enough? I went on the freeway today, trying to get up to 75 mph and I could only get up to 65 mph for a while. My RPMs were going up faster than my actual speedometer, and my foot was on the gas, to the floor.
- Is a 2001Ford Escape's engine the same or at least similar to a 2002/2004 Ford Escape? My car is overheating and I've changed my radiator, thermostat, and reservoir and now I'm down to the water pump. I found a video on YouTube for removing the water pump and I think it was on a 2004 Escape or an 02. But I drive a 2001 Ford Escape XLT V6 3.0L 2WD and I need to know if the engines are the same or at least similar. I need to know if the water pump is in the same place?
