2001 Ford f150 and 2001 Ford mustang gt exhaust sound comparison question?

Why is it that even though both these vehicles have the same motor in them even with the same aftermarket exhaust the mustang and f150 still sound different? Its the same motor right? Should get the same sound?

I would think the truck exhaust system is longer, that probably would change the sound. Not familiar with the truck and car engines but do they both have the same compression ratio?

They probably come tuned differently from the factory. Plus the exhaust systems can't be identical on two very different vehicles. Even with the same size pipe and the same muffler, the pipe will have bends in different places.

The exhaust sound is dependent on displacement, cam, exhaust tube diameter, length of tube, number of chambers (cat's, resonance, mufflers) and placement or presence of a cross over pipe.
The cam in the truck might be different. Of course the exhaust pipes total length is different.
The primary exhaust headers also are a factor.
