Need Advice on a '68 Ford f-250 fluid leak?
While fixing a simple oil leak on my '68 Ford F-250 (w/ a 390) the new in-take gasket didn't hold. I found this out while turning the crank shaft over to time the distributor. Radiator fluid sucked into the block through the leaking gasket. The truck has sat like this for at least 10 months with the in-take and all still on. Where should I go from here? I've takin off the in-take down to the oil valley. I found radiator fluid in the valley and drained the oil pan and found luckily minimal fluid. Rust has formed at 4 of all 4 outside ports on the heads. The truck was never turned on during this process obviously.
If it still turns over there should be no real damage. Scooby Doo needs to solve the intake gasket mystery though and put Humpty Dumpty back together again.
No worries. You drained the oil, and the water would have been in the pan. I feel confident you got it all, no worries.
- 2001 Ford Taurus power steering fluid leak? My husband bought a new power steering pump and installed it last week, but when he added the power steering fluid it leaked out almost immediately. Any idea of what would cause this?
- Is it ok to drive a car with a transmission fluid leak for a week before getting fixed? I have a 2007 ford ranger with only 38k miles on it, recenntly I have been having minor delays when shifting into drive from reverse before it catches and I actually move forward. So i checked my transmission fluid which seems to be pretty low a good amount below the cross hatched area. So I added more fluid and then saw some leak onto the garage floor within 30mins. I have not seen any leak before, could i still drive it before i get it fixed next week without causing more damage?
- My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
- I need a little advice in buying a new car? I have a great steady job and I can afford to buy a car from the dealership. It is the first time I ever go to a dealership for a car. I'm just wondering if there's any good reliable brands you can recommend to look out for? How is Ford, in your opinion? Also, what are the next steps one takes after buying a new car? Tags, plates, and insurance right?
