I wouldn't use Dex Cool in anything!

What he said.

There will be people that tell you it's all new and improved, so what, why would you buy something that was so bad when there are already good alternatives.

NO! Ford makes their own antifreeze part number. There's only one other aftermarket antifreeze (Zerex GO-5) that is approved by Ford to mix with their antifreeze.

Many Ford cars used Dexcool in 1998. I had a 24 valve Mercury Sable that did.

If you are going to use anti freeze use prestone anti freeze in your van I have used it for years you can also use the ford make of anti freeze

It's not approved for your vehicle. Use the right coolant

I wouldn't. Use the Universal antifreeze that mixes with any other type of antifreeze. That is what everyone will be using in the next couple of years because the others will be fading out.

No. Your 2006 Freestar requires yellow-colored engine coolant meeting Ford specification WSS-M97B51-A1 (Motorcraft® Gold Antifreeze/Coolant); see the source. WSS-M97B51-A1 specifies levels of silicates and nitrites, both of which are missing in Dexcool.

As Country Boy notes, the Green Ford coolant before 1999 was chemically similar to Dexcool. Not all Fords take the same coolants.

NO. DO NOT DO IT. GM HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH IT.
