Can I use 50/50 Prestone GREEN coolant in a 2008 ford crown vic Police interceptor?

The owner's manual recommends using Motorcraft premium Gold Engine coolant with bittering agent (YELLOW COLORED) but is it ok to just use the green stuff?

Nope. Do you think the engineers spec'd that just to mess with your head. Green coolant is a silicate formula that damage the water pump seals and bearings. Plus it's not compatible with other seals.

You'll save $20 on coolant and spend $600 when the water pump goes. Read this post on the differences in coolant.

  • Whorling/ Swirling noise coming from 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor I have a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It is an EX State Trooper Car. When I drive it, the car makes a whorling/swirling kind of noise, it isn't loud like a wheel baring but you sure can notice the sound. Also it seems like when the two front tires fully rotate, they act like they (or one of them) are going into a small hole.
  • Where can I buy a Ford Police Interceptor? I just got my license and I need to buy myself a car. And I don't want to bu anything really fancy or expensive, and I heard the crown victoria interceptor is pretty cheap like 1k or 1.5k for a 2004 model. But were do you buy it from?
