Can I replace a 1991 5.4l ford expedition engine with a 4.6l ford crown Victoria police interceptor engine?

I have a expedition that was ran out of oil so it needs a new engine, we also have a 4.6l police interceptor that runs great. So I'm wondering if it can be done and what other work would also be needed?

They are basically the same block, so yes.

You could, but you'd be better off just adding basic bolt-on to the 5.4 litre. (Cold air intake, exhaust upgrade and a tune. Much cheaper! Besides, you know that cop motor will be trashed. They don't have to pay for their vehicles, so they have no problem driving the hell out them! Remember too, they leave them running constantly with the A/C on during the summer!
