I have a 2006 Ford Freestar SEL?
2 weeks ago as I was driving I heard a blast of air then my van wouldnt go. It was still running but wouldnt kick in to gear so i coasted into an approach. I put it in park then reverse n each of the other gears but it wouldnt go. My husband checked the transmission fluid and level and said it was fine. Does this mean I need to replace the whole transmission?
Well they usually rebuild them. But it could be a small part in the transmisison. Get it towed to a transmission shop.

- Should I get a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT or 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71? Which truck would be better… I need a tough truck to haul around kids (both are 4-door), a little off-road driving around the farm and fishing, pulling a 4k to 5k trailer. Which engine is better, Fords 5.4L or Chevys 5.3L? Is one transmission better than the other? Which will give me the least or most problems? All pros and cons appreciated, thank you!
- Can I put 225 60 16 tires on my 2006 ford freestar? My 2006 Ford Freestar has on 235 60 16 tires on it now. I looked online and I guess the standard size is 225 60 16. I found some 225 60 16 tires I would like to buy and put on it. But, I'm just wondering if that's okay since the current size on the van is 235 not 225. Also… What are the benefits to putting on a smaller size? Any negatives? I live in Minnesota and winter is in full swing now. If that helps.
- 2006 Ford Freestar - Water leaking? I have a 2006 Ford Freestar. This morning I noticed white smoke or steam coming out from under the hood and a strong burnt coolant smell. I saw that most of the water and coolant was gone from the reservoir. When I looked under the van, water was dripping pretty heavily on the ground from somewhere beside the wheel on the front drivers side. Any ideas where this could be coming from? Its not condensation because that comes from the other side. TIA
