2006 Ford Freestar - Water leaking?

I have a 2006 Ford Freestar. This morning I noticed white smoke or steam coming out from under the hood and a strong burnt coolant smell. I saw that most of the water and coolant was gone from the reservoir. When I looked under the van, water was dripping pretty heavily on the ground from somewhere beside the wheel on the front drivers side. Any ideas where this could be coming from? Its not condensation because that comes from the other side. TIA

Not if you keep the curtains closed.

You just have to make a careful visual inspection. It may be a leaking hose or if it's behind a pulley it's the water pump seal failing.

In all likelihood you have a failed heater hose. Not a big deal at all. It's an easy and fairly inexpensive repair.

  • Would a faulty water pump, on a 04 Ford Freestar, cause the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor to go bad? There's definite spray pattern on the underside of the hood from the water pump going. Could antifreeze have gotten into the fuel rail sensor and caused it to fault? Is it possible to clean the Fuel Rail Pressure sensor or any corrosion? Part is EXPENSIVE.
  • I have a 2006 Ford Freestar SEL? 2 weeks ago as I was driving I heard a blast of air then my van wouldnt go. It was still running but wouldnt kick in to gear so i coasted into an approach. I put it in park then reverse n each of the other gears but it wouldnt go. My husband checked the transmission fluid and level and said it was fine. Does this mean I need to replace the whole transmission?
  • Why does water build up in water reservoir? Car is ford focus sedan 2003 1.6engine So we changed the water reservoir recently and now water builds up in the reservoir.
  • My car keeps struggling and misfiring after water keeps leaking into spark plugs? I have a ford focus 06 ghia and recently we took to a garage as was really sluggish and found we had water in spark plug casing. We have been told his is a common problem with this model! (wish I had been told about this before I had purchased the car) Has anybody had this problem and how was it rectified? Cheapest option:-( one poorly car at the moment
