99 ford contour 2.0L 4 cylinder, cylinder 4 misfire code?
I have a 99 ford contour se. Its the 2.0L 4 Cylinder. It started having a misfire on cylinder four. I sprayed brake cleaner inside the cylinders and the spark plug wires as well as cleaning the spark plugs. It ran fine afterwards for a while yesterday, but now I'm getting oil on the spark plugs again. I've already replaced the valve cover gasket and the timing belt. Could it be the spark plug wires? The car has 231,000 miles on it and they've never been changed out. Could it maybe be a bad coil? Anything helps. I REFUSE to get rid of the car. I'm rebuilding it and it's the car my grandfather gave me, so it means a lot to me.
You could always ohm the ignition wires and coil - see if it is within spec before replacking - but if the ignition wires have not been changed in 231k miles it is a fairly good bet they are due -- just depends on how much you want to spend vs. Test. The coil should easily be tested too with a multi-meter - lots of good videos online on how to do this - again a fairly cheap replacement if you stay away from Ford parts.
- Which cylinder is cylinder #5? I posted this the other day but in a hurry with not much detail so here it is again I drive a 2004 Ford taurus with a v6 24v DOHC Duartec engine and my computer is reading a bad ignition coil on (coil e #5) replacing it won't. - 1998 Ford ranger Misfire Cylinder 3? So I'm getting a misfire in cylinder 3 and it has been preventing my truck from starting. Changed the Alternator, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, cables and coil packs and ran sea foam through it. It's a 4 cylinder truck I don't know what the hell is the problem at this point very frustrated and just completely annoyed by it does anyone have the slightest idea of what this could be?
- I'm having the code P0304 keep coming up on my 2000 Ford Contour. With a 2.0 engine? The car ran fine until I replaced the fuel pump and assembly. I can drive the car for about 4 hours and it will start stalling. The other fuel pump and assembly came from a salvage yard. Could the fuel pump be the problem?
