Should I get rid of my car? - 1

I have a 2008 ford edge. I have a lien on the car, I have 3900 left to pay. The car runs there are no problems with it, yet. The previous owner drove it like a race car, which is why I want to get rid of it before I have to put a lot of money into it. There are 115,000 miles on it currently. It does need to be fix up cosmetically, should i sell it as is or fix it up first? Would it be best to just trade it in or sell it privately? Can i sell it with a lien on it?

You can't sell it yet because you don't own it! When there's a lien on a vehicle, the lien must be paid as well as any outstanding loan ; then you can do what you wish with the vehicle

Even if it's a stripped down 2WD SE model, it's worth close to double what you owe on it, less any required repairs of course. You should be able to sell it for more than what you owe which will enable you to pay off the note. You can't sell it until the note is paid in full.

Your best course of action would be to hang on to it as long as it continues to run. Even if you have to replace the engine or transmission in a couple of years, that will still be less than car payments in the long run, especially for a similar new vehicle. A new 2015 Edge 2WD SE starts at around $27k and quickly rises to nearly $50k for a fully loaded AWD Titanium.

Sell it.

  • How to get rid of my car without a title, but with the registration in my name? I have a 1998 Ford Taurus. The whole purchase in 2006 was a little shady, and I never acquired the title. Furthermore, the title has a lien on it. I bought it off the street from some guy and I never got the title from him (What was I thinking, yes I know). Long story short, no one has ever claimed it since 2006, I've had it since, and I want to get absolutely rid of it now, and I don't know what to do. Any ideas?
  • Should Sears and Ford HIRE Dotard McTiny as their CEO and get profitable again! If he can get Foreign Diplomats and American Lobbyists to? Pay $350.00/night to sleep in a tiny room in an old Post Office and keep it FULL and VERY PROFITABLE, don't you think that he could come up with an idea to save 40+ thousand American jobs?
  • How do i get rid of weed smell on my car seats? I recently purchased my first car and the car is perfect but the seats reek of cigarettes and weed and I would like to shampoo it but I simply don't have the time to do it or the money to pay someone to do it. Plus it's embarrassing when I have people ride with me. Is there a spray or something I could use to rid my seats of that odor that's affordable and not time consuming? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  • What car should I get for my first car? I'm 16 and about to buy my first car. I'm thinking about getting a 94 Ford Ranger (120k miles) with lifted suspension, off road tires, and a prerunner bumper. Would this be a reliable car throughout my high school years? Should I get that or should I just get a 2 door coupe?
