Depends on if it's carbureted engine or fuel injection… The carbureted engine has a fuel pump on the block and the fuel injected models have two pumps… A low pressure pump in the gas tank and a high pressure pump on the drivers side frame rail under the door.
If the pump in the gas tank is bad, it 's usually easier to unbolt the bed and slide it back a bit to get at the top of the tank to access the fuel pump. Check for power getting to the pumps if that style pump… Could be a bad pump relay or wiring issue, etc. Or reset the fuel pump cutoff switch if it's been tripped. Check that first to see if it's tripped or you won't get power to the pumps… Located in passenger side footwell area above the carpet on the firewall… See pics in ink below.

- 1990 ford ranger- fuel pump issues? I've put 3 fuel pumps in so far. 1 had a broken wire at the connection. The other 2 just stopped working after about a week. Anyone else have this experience? How did you solve it?
- On my 2000 ford mustang why does my air pump (smog pump) only blow air for 5 seconds after start up? Is that normal? I have p0411 secondary air injection system insufficient flow detected. I've checked the hose that comes out from the pump, it's blowing air but I believe it should blow air for much longer than 5 seconds on start up.
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
