What was the main parts that ford used to get the 289 hipo to 300hp?

What was the main parts that ford used to get the 289 hipo to 300hp?

Engine block, pistons, crankshaft, cylinder heads, etc., etc., etc…

Uh, 271 HP. Was the rating. Did a different year get rated higher?
I would like to know also.
Since the carb and manifold is all you can see from the outside.
Camshaft can be the answer too.

Shelby got 306 HP out of the HiPo 289, not Ford. Cam and
Carb are the main parts. Heads, too.

The 306 hp Shelby had a Paxton blower that blew thru the carb. The 271 had a bigger cam & carb.

The 271 HP 289 Hi_po had a solid-lifter camshaft, connecting rods with 3/8" bolts versus the standard 5/16" 289 fare. Both features were for increased RPM… Nothing special in the cylinder heads other than machining for a cup to hold the valvespring. The intake was cast iron. The distributor had dual-points for more dwell time and better coil saturation. No special features in the block metallurgy or machining.

  • What are the MAIN REASONS that people are so interested in the Ford vs Kavannaugh testimony? I don't get it. People are just crazy about this story, I could not care less. I don't see what the big deal is. Is I the sex allure of the story? (but even then this happened back during the early 80s when they were like teeny boppers? Who cares?) he could even come up with a ruling to kick all these illegals out of the country? Do you think he would?
  • How much should a rear main seal replacement cost? I have a 2000 ford ranger 4x4 with a 3.0l v6. The rear main seal is leaking, but here is the deal, it has a 3 inch body lift which makes it really easy to reach the transmission bolts vs the factory pull the motor method. So, what do you think it should cost… Ballpark answer?
  • Does the oil pan have to be removed to change the rear main seal on a ford 3.0L V6 in a 2000 ford ranger? I have the engine removed from the truck and was swaping in a salvaged engine that all checks out good except for a slight leaking rear main seal. So, after inspecting the rear main seal, it appears as though a could just slide it out and a new one in. Does the oil pan need to be removed? Or can I just carefully remove the old seal and clean the surfaces good and install a new one?
  • 2004 Ford ranger main headlights dim? Today i bought a 2004 Ford Ranger and i just drove it to work at night and on my way here i noticed that the headlights are dim. Every other light seems to work fine and i have been having battery issues as the truck doesn't quite want to start but it does still anyways. I just don't want to make a habit of driving with my brights and and am hoping someone will have a solution.
