What to know about trucks?

I've recently been talkin to this guy that definitely is a country boy that works on trucks and such.
What is the difference between ford and Chevy and diesel? What trucks have which engines? What types of trucks, engines etc are there? I think it's stuff I should know. Anything please!

he was into trucks like crazy, he swore by Ford, he had this blue really suped up truck, was all high up in
the air kind, you name the bells &whistles it had it, all his cars come to think of it were as this, because
he was always racing someone, would win to.~ I like Chevy's why well they go the distance, and I just like
the look of them, and I have not the slightest idea why I'm telling you this, but anyway he swore by the
Ford's.~*

I personally think Ford and Chevy are pretty similar.
The main thing to know about trucks are the sizes.
Ford starts with the largest frames being F350, then smaller F250 and F150.
Chevy is 3500, 2500, and 1500.
These usually have a large V8, or a straight 6.
There are also smaller trucks made without frames.
The Chevy S-10 was made in the 1990 and up to 2004, and usually has a V6.
Ford Ranger is their compact truck, from 1980s to 2012, usually with a V6
