Why is my car not starting?
I have a 1999 ford taurus with the 3.0 sohc v6. Only has 74,442 miles and it will not start. It has never giving me a problem before. I moved the car around my driveway to clean it out. When I went to start it back up to move the car back to its spot, it wouldn't start. The car will crank over but will not turn over to run. When I turn the key to start it the batterie light flashes on and off real fast. The car did not have any lights on the dash and the gas is a little under half a tank. Like I said the car cranks over like it wants to start. So I believe the batterie is charged up. I have also tryed resetting the cars fuel pump and that didn't work. There's a switch in the right side of the trunk for it. If anyone can help me with some ideas that would be great, thanks.
Turning over and cranking over means the same thing.
#1. Change the fuel filter first.
#2. Ask a Ford Dealership to test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail pressure fitting. This is a very inexpensive test BUT the fuel filter must be clean to get an accurate fuel pressure reading. Plugged fuel filters is the #1 cause of electric fuel pump failures.
Maybe jump it with another car or battery charger. You can try hitting the starter with a long stick while some one with you starts it that worked for my dad. If that don't work ask some one who knows alot about fixing cars or get a mechanic to fix it. It could also be a bad spark plug or fuel pump

- Car will not start, without starting fluid? I have a 2001 ford mustang that won't start unless i spray starting fluid into it, it starts up then but after spraying alot and dies out after a minute of it running or when i go to push on the gas pedal. It was flooded a little bit when the street was flooded if that has anything to do with it.
- Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI not starting? The fuel pump has been changed. It's been timed back up. Checked injectors for blockage but they're clean. Car still fails to kick in on start. Tried some easy start in it but car stops as soon as it burns off… Any ideas? It's driving us crazy.
