Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI not starting?
The fuel pump has been changed. It's been timed back up. Checked injectors for blockage but they're clean. Car still fails to kick in on start. Tried some easy start in it but car stops as soon as it burns off… Any ideas? It's driving us crazy.
Just guessing here, but are you getting fuel pressure? If not, there can be a number of reasons, and I'm NOT an expert with diesel. First (I'd imagine) you might have a clogged filter. Second, possibly a faulty fuel pressure regulator. Third (again, I don't know diesel) maybe the computer is not providing sufficient power to the injectors. They may BE clean, but if they're not being switched on?
Before you spend any more money on fixing the problem FULLY diagnose the problem. That way you don't throw money at it in the HOPES to fix the problem. You're not a "Lucky Mechanic". You'll waste a lot of money fixing things people tell you to change. No! Fully diagnose the problem first.
Have you checked the glow plugs? If one or more are defective starting will be impaired.
Don't know diesels but Fords have that rollover breaker in the trunk that sometimes kicks out and provides no power to the fuel pump. You have a fuel pressure issue and that is what you need to concentrate on.
P.S. It is not the filter.
- Ford Taurus not starting? I have a 2003 ford Taurus, Thursday I drove to school then home no problem but when I went to pick up my son my car wouldn't start. I have bought a replacement but can't find where it goes, mainly due to limited under car space, I know it's a fiddly change but easily a DIY. I'm a skinflint you see.
