Because it is leaking in the engine.

Hi so what else would you expect from such an old car a MIRACLE. Old and worn out.

Because you have a leak and are not smart enough to go to a mechanic to have it repaired before you over heat your motor and ruin the head gaskets!
If it's a 4 cylinder FWD car the water pump may be leaking and if antifreeze gets on your timing belt it can jump time and bend all your valves!

Something is leaking. Look under the car and see if you can spot the source. If it's just the radiator, you might just find a sealant product to pour in. If it's the water pump, I'd consider whether I wanted to keep the car before doing the repair. Also look at the oil dipstick. If it looks cloudy at all, like there might be chocolate milk in it, not worth fixing - shop for another car now.

Oh dear. Try getting a mechanic to look at it.

Thats rather a lot to use. We either have an external leak or we're using it internally via a failed gasket or porosity. In most cases its an external leak or a failed /failing pressure can/ check for signs where anti freeze has been lost .it will dry as water vaporises leaking staining or even light 'crust' we can see around any are of leak. E.g. Radiator core. Water pump .once we locate area we can sort it out. Not good idea running with such a high coolant loss. Potential for engine failure. A garage can do a pressure check on system and likely even find root cause too.
