Should I inquire/contact other local repair shops to see if there's any hope for my old car before I donate it as junk?
My car is a 1993 Ford Taurus station wagon. Recently the power steering unexpectantly cut out on me while I was driving. I had the car towed to my local repair shop and they told me the car's front crossmember was found rotted and hanging down. They also said the replacement part is no longer available. And replacing it with a used one is not recommended because they will come from a junkyard and that part will also likely to be rusted. There's nothing they can do for my car. Both shop told me to declare the car as junk and donate it. I asked if I should go to other shops, but they told me I may not like what I will hear, and that repair shops are not going to put used parts in a customer's car as they can't stand behind used parts, nor do they want to be liable for used parts.
The car is now undrivable and sitting in my garage waiting to be either fixed or donated.
Given my situation and the car's problem, should I bother to contact and inquire other local repair shops to see if they can help my car? Or am I really wasting my time and should look to donate the car now? I understand the biggest red flag is my car is 25 years old, so its already not easy to repair my car.

Donate and move on.
Call a body shop and ask them to locate the part for you.
If you have that kind of rust, donate it. I have seen great looking cars where the "knees" of the frame ( where it curves up to receive the engine?) were rusted out. It would be impossible to do a good enough job without entirely new rails which would have to be fabricated.
25 years… In the snowbelt the whole time, right?
It's not just the front crossmember that's rusted out. That part was just the first to go.
You could hit a pothole, and find yourself driving two half-cars.
- Who do I need to contact? What should I do? On May 23rd I went to a ford dealership and purchased a vehicle. I got a phone call on June 8th from Ford letting me know that the Ford credit loan did not get approved but they did find a bank offering 2% more. I said I would get back to them. I went home and read my contract which clearly states it says the dealership has 10 days to find a finance company or bank for me otherwise the dealership has to finance my loan. Has anyone anyone had a similar experience or knows what I can do or say?
- If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.

- My local Dodge dealer wants to buyback my 5 months old 2017 Ford Mustang EcoBoost? I received this letter from the local Dodge dealer saying they're short on 2017 used Ford Mustang, therefore, they'd like to buy my Mustang at above market value. I'm curious at what kind of offer they'd give me. I know this is some BS they're trying to pull, but what do you guys think?
