Added (1). we've been having trouble with the power steering, it starts to make a loud whining sound then when we check the fluid level while hot it shows low but if it sits and cools down its back to normal?

Sounds like air is getting into the system, start by checking for power steering leaks and repairing what you find, then flush and bleed the power steering
Fault on pump most likely. E.g. Pressure valve, odds are a change of pump needed but do check fluid is flowing around circuit. Normal for height to change slightly due to temperature changes.
- One side of the power steering rack line on this 91 Ford Taurus is disconnected. Why, and what to do? The power steering rack in my Ford Taurus has a metal rack line that is just laying there unconnected on the front left wheel side of the rack and pinion. Did it just pop out a long time ago? However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.
