Police officers, does car model factor into your decision in giving a ticket or a break?
This will vary but in your experience, what is the biggest factor as it relates to giving a roadway violator a ticket or a break? Lets say you pull over 2 people going 85 mph, one is in a beamer, another in an old ford taurus - does car model play a factor in general terms? If not what does assist/not assist in your personal experience?
Added (1). I've been fortunate enough to have never gotten a speeding ticket (I'm 28 male) and I have been pulled over several times for speeding (never more than once in a year) and I always get let go). I'm always extremely respectful and I drive a pos car lol. I just wonder what the biggest factor is in getting to an officers forgiving side.
The driver determines if he/she gets a ticket or not
The car is not speeding or whatever it is the driver and a driver with an attitude will get a ticket and the driver that truly seems sorry most the time will not
Anyway that is how I operate my patrol day
No. I have heard people blame their car for being stopped or ticketed. Some people just can't take responsibility for their own actions.
In over 20 years as a cop I have never even heard a suggestion that the type of car is a consideration.
The driver's attitude does sometimes affect the decision to ticket or not.
It doesn't matter. Speeding is speeding. It doesn't matter if someone was driving a 15 year old car.
The police will harass you if you have a really expensive car as they are often quite jealous of your success. Likewise, an old crock will get stopped often so strike a happy balance to avoid these SS lookalikes getting on your case.
Oh heck yeah it affects it. When I moved out at 18 and put myself through school, I drove a pretty horrid car. I never got tickets though cops sort of harassed me a bit (I must be a hooligan with such a car haha). When I got a really nice car, I can go 5 over and if a cop sees me I get a ticket.
- What kind of police officers get to drive the newer marked vehicles? Like a Dodge Charger, Ford Taurus, and Chevy Tahoe? The newer and nicer vehicles. Do you have to be a certain rank? Or in a certain division?
- Police Officer Gets Pranked With Post-Its On Car your opinion please? Kansas City Police detective was a bit surprised when colleagues covered his Ford Taurus with 4,000 Post-it notes as a prank to celebrate his 50th birthday.
- How do you determine if your car is under California or Federal emissions if your emissions sticker is gone? I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 GL 4dr. Sedan. I need to know if my car is under California or federal emissions. I know you are suppose to have a sticker on your car that tells you but mine was destroyed over time so I really don't know. Is their another way to get this information? How would I find out?
- Can a police officer buy a brand new unmarked police car with out his department's Do Dodge and Ford sell their unmarked police cars to individual police officers if the officers directly contact Dodge or Ford? Or do they only sell their unmarked police cars directly to police departments? Happy Gramps You are wrong. Dodge and Ford have their factory equipped Charger and Ford Interceptor (Taurus) models with police packages
