Need options on a break cylinder job for a 03 ford Taurus car?
Need a few pointers and options on a car. So the break cylinder was bad and it got replaced. But it's still leaking a little fluid (not as much before it was replaced) and the car won't stop at all. Does the breaks need bled or what? The car won't stop period and it was driven for a bit with the cylinder bad. Is there a chance a lot of air is in the break lines and need bled? But would that make it leak a little fluid from the cylinder? Just need some options on what to do next.
If you're calling brakes "breaks" then it's clear you're already in over your head. Take it to a mechanic or at least someone who knows the difference between a "brake" and a "break".
From the question I know you are trying to do it yourself and it is not going well. Please have the vehicle towed to a repair shop and repaired correctly. It is not worth a accident to fool around with one of the most important items of a car.
Simply put a braking system can't operate correctly if there's a leak anywhere in the system. Brake systems are hydraulic… Which means they are under high pressure when being applied. If there's even the smallest leak the fluid is forced out of the system… Meaning the brakes fail. Any time a brake system is opened air gets into the lines and must be bled out completely before the system will function properly. There are plenty of on-line sites that detail the proper way to bleed brake systems but you've got to fix the leaks before it can be done.
If its leaking take it back as the job has not been done right.
- Which cylinder is cylinder #5? Be difficult I'm just not sure how to determine which cylinder is which
- My 1999 Ford Taurus jumps a little bit when I put on a break what could that be? My 1999 Ford Taurus transmission went out all of the sudden and I've never had a problem with it. I put on a break and when I went to mash the gas, it would not go. What could the problem be
- Break problems in my Ford Taurus 1999? I think I might need to bleed my breaks but I'm not sure. I'll push my breaks all the way to the floor and it still won't stop completely. It still slowly stops as if I'm barely pushing on them. And the pressure is really hard. So I have no idea, what do I need to do?
- Break lights are always on in my 1998 Ford Taurus wagon? The break lights won't turn off, it's like I'm constantly pushing the brake when I'm not, the only time they turn off is when the car is off. I want other drivers to know when I'm actually breaking, how do I fix this?
