Break lights are always on in my 1998 Ford Taurus wagon?
The break lights won't turn off, it's like I'm constantly pushing the brake when I'm not, the only time they turn off is when the car is off.
I want other drivers to know when I'm actually breaking, how do I fix this?
This is either a short in the wiring (a wire is touching ground that shouldnt be), or more likely, the switch behind the brake pedal is broken.
Replace the conuter valve
Replace the brake light(stoplight)switch attached to the brake pedal.Autozone part #F4843. When this switch goes bad, the brake lights will not function at all, will function continuously(like yours)or the shifter won't come out of park.

- Lost my only key to my car. It's an 02 ford taurus station wagon and has a chip in the key? Ordered and blank key. Going to get it cut then have it programmed. I have an extra key that will unlock my doors but won't start the car because it doesn't have a chip and isn't programmed for my car. Can I use my key that unlocks the door to get it cut and then use my vin to have them program it?
