I have a 1993 Ford Taurus Wagon
I got it from my neighbor. I used to drive her around to the stores and Dr.'s for at least 10 yrs. Never had a problem. But now it stall's out after 10min of running once it cools down it starts up again, but it does the same. I thought it could be the gas tank. Cause it sat for a couple of years. But there saying no it's not that. Can anybody help me with this. Thanks Bill
PS. I also had a tune-up done the full works, new brakes, fuel filter and drove it from NJ to FLA. And it ran great. Now it's acting up. I'm hopen someone had this problem and can help me.
Does it overheat? If so it might be the head gasket or thermostat there's not enough info to diagnose the problem accurately id just get a diagnostic scanner and plug it in
Some electrical ignition issues may crop up when the engine warms up like a bad ignition coil or module (ICM) or possibly a bad crank sensor (PIP ). They'll work fine when cold or cool but can fail when they heat up due to high internal resistance and cause stalling, no starts, etc… Until they cool back down.
Some parts stores offer to test the coils/module but may not get accurate results if they don't test them hot. Only way to do it is to test the coils and module, etc. After being heated up to operating temps of the engine/underhood temps. Or at least, check to see if you get no spark or weak spark at the plugs when the engine stalls/dies… If no spark/ weak spark, then likely it's ignition issues. If you do get good spark, then you'll need to look for other issues such as a fuel system… Weak fuel pump/low pressure, etc.
Given the age of the car, it may just be a good idea to replace the coils/module as a set as they could fail soon anyways and you'll at least eliminate that as a potential problem or cause of the stalling.

It has OBD1. Look in aChilton'smanualtosee how to get the trouble codes to display.
- My 1995 Ford Taurus Wagon Shakes while driving? It shakes quite a bit when I reach about 30mh. If I let off the gas there's no shaking at all. While stoped the shaking is minimal. I don't know a whole lot about cars but any help is appreciated, Thanks!
- Lost my only key to my car. It's an 02 ford taurus station wagon and has a chip in the key? Ordered and blank key. Going to get it cut then have it programmed. I have an extra key that will unlock my doors but won't start the car because it doesn't have a chip and isn't programmed for my car. Can I use my key that unlocks the door to get it cut and then use my vin to have them program it?
- I turn the a/ c on in my Ford.Taurus and nothing happens! It is a.94 station.wagon? I checked the fuse panel under the steering column and. They looked o.k. Is there another fuse.panel that.is. Also controlling the air conditioning?
- How many motor mounts are there on a Ford Taurus 1993 and where are they located? I have a 1993 Ford Taurus. The engine moves abruptly when shifting gears. I know little about auto mechanics and have no choice but to fix this myself due to financial hardship. After research, I concluded I have broken motor mount(s). How many motor mounts on my vehicle specifically, and where are they located?
