How many motor mounts are there on a Ford Taurus 1993 and where are they located?

I have a 1993 Ford Taurus. The engine moves abruptly when shifting gears. I know little about auto mechanics and have no choice but to fix this myself due to financial hardship. After research, I concluded I have broken motor mount(s). How many motor mounts on my vehicle specifically, and where are they located?

Do not even consider this job until you either buy a subscription to aldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net or go to the public library and download the step by step directions. The fact that you even asked this question shows that you haven't done even the basic research on this.

AFter you read the step by step, ask yourself if you have access to the right tools, because you can kill yourself without them.

Should be two motor mounts and one transmission mount. Same thing happened to my '94 Toreass, then the transmission went, then the head gaskets. Good Luck. You will need a floor jack to support the engine/tranny weight.

I GUARANTEE your diagnosis is DEAD WRONG. It is not possible to know the engine mounts are broken without SEEING them. If you had a clue how to diagnose a damaged engine mount, you would know exactly were they are. What you can't afford is trying to fix the problem yourself. That will cost FAR more than an overpriced shop.

They are in the vicinity of the motor. Look up the mounts like you are going to order them and look at the pictures. Then go find them near the engine. Most likely underneath. Summarize if you can do it. Order the parts. Borrow jack stands and get er done.

It is NOT impossible to know that you have busted motor mounts on a car. I have a 1993 Ford Taurus and i've dealt with busted motor mounts before, infact I have to replace them again. Just driving the car I knew the mounts were broken. You don't have to see them to know they are broken.
