How to fix a toggle switch in my Ford Taurus?

I have a 1995 Taurus wagon. The rear defroster is opperated by a toggle in the dash. Recently it stopped staying on and instead just clicks back out and shuts off. It works if I hold the toggle in manually but of course I can't drive that way. Any iceas besides drilling a hole to put a pin in front of it to hold it down?

Replace the switch.

Replace the toggle?

You ever think of just buying a new switch?

Hmm? 1995 junk.O.K.Rip the old one out and replace it with a new one a bit larger, hook the wires to the new one and open the hole to the precise size with a soldering iron.Force it in with some glue

Could be the switch also has some sort of timer in it, so the defroster just doesn't stay-on forever. Suggest you ask the parts guy at a Ford dealer & get the exactly right replacement.

Buy a new toggle switch and replace this one. They do wear out, and need replacement.

  • How to fix 2003 Ford Taurus power steering issues? I replaced the power steering pump on my 2003 Ford Taurus. It still does not work properly. The pump made a loud whining noise after I first started it up. I topped off the fluid, but the steering is still tough. The whining noise has quit, the reservoir is full and the steering is still stiff. What do I do next? It also spit fluid around my engine bay.
