Does a 1998 ford taurus have any problems with transmission not working suddenly?
Does a 1998 ford taurus have any problems with transmission not working suddenly?
I know there were recalls on the 94 for the transmissions.
Yep, check the oil, if it still don't work, id imagine you got pieces of a bearing in the pan. This has plagued taurus since the early 90's
Worse transmissions ford had. If transmission full and won't move then the common problem is the splines in the torque converter that the pump shaft rides on have stripped meaning no movement. No recall and transmission not covered under any warranty unless you just bought the car and bought a extended warranty. Find shop at ATRA.COM for more help
- My '06 Ford Taurus is having what i'm assuming transmission problems, any ideas? The other day while attempting to back up a small slope, my engine revved up and a message came on the info area of my dash saying to check the transmission. I turned off the car, turned it on and the check engine light was on. I go home and check the trans fluid and it's full. The next day I start my car and the check engine light is off, but now my car shakes on heavy acceleration and gear changes. I'm not a car person. Any ideas?
- Location of 1998 Ford Taurus fuel pump. Does it have a fuel cut-off switch? Car shut down suddenyl without warning. New battery and cranks but will not start. Suspect bad fuel filter, 130K miles and fuel filter has never been replaced.
- My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
