2006 Ford Taurus Check Charging System?

I don't know much about cars. But… Over the winter my cars Check Charging System light came on. But it went off about a minute later. I figured it was just the negative temps that was messing with something because once it warmed up it stopped coming on. But yesterday my car starting making a screeching noise and the Check Charging System light came on again. So I started making my way home and then my car died. I got a jump and made it home but I could tell it was getting ready to die again because my digital dashboard was going in and out and my windows were rolling up slowly. I had someone check my serpentine belt since it was making a screeching noise but the belts fine. I'm going to have my alternator tested today, but I don't see why it would making a screeching noise if my alternator is going bad I would think it has something to do with a belt… So I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they had it fixed. I looked it up and it seems to be a common issue in Ford Taurus (I should have listened when everyone told me not to get a Ford. ) But my cars been good to me so far. This is the first issue i've had with it.

Ignore previous answer. If it is (as suspected) an alternator problem, no amount of "dealer servicing" will have avoided this. Hi so when was the last time it saw the inside of the dealers workshop for a service. As this sounds like lack of maintenance.

  • Will a 2006 taurus auto transmission fit a 2004 ford taurus? I have a 2004 ford taurus with an auto transmission. At first it was jumping out of overdrive, now it won't go in to overdrive and it slips.
  • 2002 ford explorer not charging? I have a 2002 ford explorer and I had a remanufactured alternator and a battery put in also new battery ends that go on top of the battery. It started right up but shut off after 10 minutes and had to charge the battery to move it back to the driveway The battery light was on and the level was very low. Does anyone know what this could be or what to inspect?
  • Charging devices in a car? I usually was able to charge my phone and gps even when the car is turned off… It works on my 2004 ford car… Where as it doesn't work in other cars. Why is that. What is the universal setup in cars like.is it safe or possible to charge devices in a car even if the engine is turned off.
  • 2005 Ford Freestyle .After changing the power steering line It had check traction control, check transmission display message.engine rev'd? I did some research and checked and replaced front speed sensors. It also had a broken sway bar link on passenger side which was replaced. It seems to not come out of 2nd gear. Sometimes shifts hard into Drive. Would a computer part need reset after the power steering line was replaced?
