Who was wrong in this situation?
An older gentleman driving a Ford Ranger pick up accidentally backed into a mans Porsche while leaving Krogers. The older man cracked the left headlight however couldnt locate the owner so he left a note with his name, address and phone number. While the older man was leaving, the man who owned the Porsche came running over to his car and yelling for the old man to stop. The older man backed up, apologised and told the man his number, address and everything was on the note. The man wouldn't accept the note and got angry with the older man, telling him to pull out his insurance papers so he could take a picture of them. The old man told the man he had his phone number and address, there was no way he could escape and he would pay. Then the old man began driving away from the scene. The man hopped in his Porsche and followed the man, nearly all the way back to his home demanding to see his insurance papers. The old man fumbled through his glove box and finally located a card with his insurance information on it and handed it to the man through the window. The man took a picture, called the old man an idiot and got in his Porsche to drive away.
Who was wrong and why?
The old man
He fled the scene of the accident. If the man in the porsche had chosen to push the matter, he could have made a police report and the old man would have been charged accordingly.
"I gave you a note" isn't the same thing as remaining until after a police report has been filed.
The Ford-man should have provided his insurance information on the note. When confronted by porshe-man, he should have provided his insurance information. That's a basic when it comes to automobile accidents; share your insurance and contact information. It's a legal requirement in most states.
The porche driver needs to chill.
The old man had left his information. Even then, the porche driver came out and saw the old man in the truck, so now the porche driver has: Name, address, phone number, description of the truck, AND license plate number.
Having the insurance card information is unnecessary - and even pointless. For instance, how do you know that's the guy's current insurance carrier? If the number of commercials we see on TV is any indication, apparently we're changing auto insurance 3 or 4 times a year! (otherwise, why so many commercials for auto insurance?!)
Furthermore the old man could have had the cops charge the porche driver with assault. So it was just stupid all the way around.
I was in a situation like that, an old man in a truck did a lot of damage to a mans Porsche. The old man wrote a note and left it on his windshield. When the old man drove away I took the note and read it, I put the note in my pocket then the owner of the Porsche came out and freaked out and I drove past him and went home.
The man in the Porsche was the idiot. For a cracked headlight lens? Some people value their toys more than they value their mind.
Clearly the older gentleman was at fault with regard to the accident. It's a grey area after that. Aggression on the scale shown by the younger one wasn't pretty, but it is sometimes a bit understandable, as it's been known for people who have caused an accident to leave the wrong information or a rude message instead. Given that the older gentleman had one of those cards from his insurer to give to drivers in the event of an accident, it seems a little bit 'off' that he didn't offer that when verbally attacked. I think both of them could have behaved a little better, to be honest.
The old man for not showing insurance and the Porsche driver for yelling and following him. The Porsche driver only needed the tag number if there was a problem with the Info. In stand your ground states the older man could have shot the Porsche driver because he feared for his life.
The Porsche driver is a jerk.
I wouldn't say that either of them were wrong. The older man did what he could. The other man was obviously upset and could have handled the situation better.
The accident was just an accident. The fault is clear there since the car was parked. But both were wrong. The man at fault should have provided his insurance information, and the other man should have called the police rather than follow the person home.
Depends on the state. Often, insurance information does NOT have to be exchanged (but you do have to give it police if they show up). But even if you don't HAVE to provide insurance information, there's usually no reason not to. So I would say: (1) the old man was wrong not to give it when asked, and (2) the Porsche guy was wrong to get so angry and intimidate the old man over just property damage.
- What do you think about the Brett Kavanaugh situation? I believe in "innocent until proven guilty." I believe a lot of holes have been poked in Dr. Ford's story. Republicans know the FBI won't waste time on decades-old claims. Dianne Feinstein should've turned that letter over to the fbi when she got it.
- Can a dial torque wrench be used in same situation as a click torque wrench? Or are the used in specific applications? I'm looking to get a torque wrench to fasten the valve cover on my Ford F-150. Being new to all this I automatically started looking at click wrenches. But I have seen some higher brand dial wrenches for decent prices also. Can I use dial? Or stick with click?(Digital/high tech is out of my price range) Thanks.
- Did I do wrong in this situation? I was shoe shopping, looking for new botas tribaleras when all of the sudden I see a mayate trying Tribal boots. I said "Don't put your black feet on Mejican boots" He said "I have Jordans Cuh" This infuriated me and I let out a Curve stomp and lured him with watermelon. He stared screaming so i left in my 2014 Ford Raptor bumping some corridos progressivos. Did i do the right thing?
