Starting your engine 4x a day?

Is that bad for an old ford ranger? I heard starting to much can put pressure on your engine/starter. Is 4x ok?

Not a problem. Everybody does it at least twice a day just to go to work. Three if you stop for gas.

Every time you use the starter its brushes wear a little and it consumes the battery a bit. There's nothing you can do about wearing the brushes- that's how they work. You need to run the engine long enough to put back the power you use up. You didn't say you go anywhere. By the way. Starting a car 2x a day is what people do to go to work and back. You might run an errand or two besides that. The car will be fine for years. For you old Ranger, those years may be short or coming to a close. We can't guess.

On a normal day I start my vehicle when I leave the house for work (1). I will often stop to purchase supplies on the way to the job site. (2) When I arrive at the job site, I go into the office and check in. I then take my vehicle to the location on the property where I will be working (3) When I finish that job, I either move my vehicle to another location or go back out to the office(4) I leave the location after checking out with the people there,(5) I may stop for fuel, or lunch (6).

It would not be uncommon for me to start my vehicle 10-15 times a day. It does not hurt the vehicle

Give me a fricken break dude. If you can't use your vehicle when ever you need it get a different ride!

If you think 4 times a day is too much spare a thought for those new cars with the "environmental" engine stop feature that means the engine starts 50 times a day.
4 times a day is nothing.
