Power steering pump for a 2001 Ford Ranger?
How much does a power steering pump cost for a 2001 ford ranger?
If you feel frisky, buy one from a junkyard -- a bit chancy, but hey, it's 14 years old. Be sure to use new o-rings at both ends of both hoses. I like silicone better than neoprene.
Call any auto parts store and ask them…
- If my power steering pump and pulley break, is there any other parts I may have to potentially replace? Last night when I was driving, my power steering pump busted and also broke my power steering pulley. I have a 2002 ford Taurus. In the process of the pulley breaking off, the serpentine belt came off. It is still on the car so I just have to re position it once the new pulley is on. My question is through this incident, could anything else have broken? I just did a bypass pulley for the AC compressor last week. And I also replaced the serpentine belt last week.
- Why does my power steering pump squal when I turn? I have checked the fluid and it fine… It is a 2000 ford ranger with 4.0 V6 engine. It has a 3 inch body life and oversize mud tires… Would large tires cause it to whine? Or do I need to just change my pump?
- When changing the power steering pump on a KA (54) can you use PTFE tape to seal the pressure line from pump? I have changed the power steering pump on a ford KA (54) and when removing the pressure line from the pump there was some kind of seal on it but I don't know what it was, so I was hopping that PTFE tape would do the same job at sealing the thread. Any help please. Andy.
- Power steering pump issues? The power steering pump on my 2001 ford focus seems to have a small leak around where the pulley and shaft is. Also when I took the serp belt off the pulley it doesn't want to turn freely and is kinda stiff, could it being stiff make the serp belt squeak when I start the car? Is my power steering pump going bad?
