Car making squeaking noise?
I have a 1996 ford ranger, 3.0 5 speed. I recently noticed that when I run the truck from a cold start (Usually after sitting overnight, on a cool morning), the truck will make a squeaking noise (kind of like a door would) when I let off the clutch and give it gas. The noise doesn't come when I put it in gear, but it's when I start driving. I'm not sure if it's letting off the clutch or giving it gas. It just started doing this last week. I haven't noticed any affect on performance.
The truck also has 181k on it. Never had an issue with it aside from a bad radiator.
Well it sounds like you are having a belt squeak which you can diagnose yourself. Watch this video:
How to Diagnose a Belt Squeak
You should also watch this and see if your ball joints are squeaking:
Let me know what you end up finding!
Loose serpentine belt is usually the problem
You will likely find TSB's that tell you the fix for belt tracking issues.
They are free at the library.
Since you have 180K on the 3.0L in your truck, you should consider: 1) coolant on the belt, 2) p/s pump pulley alignment, 3) Idler or tensioner concern, and 4) worn serp belt, and combinations of these.
This is your true and complete answer.
A blip in the ribs if a belt can develop at the crank pulley as a result of the accessory items in the group getting out of the sheave line.
AND thats the way it truly is.
- 03 ford ranger 3.0L v6 making clicking noise? A few days ago my ranger started making a clicking noise from the engine. It increases with the rpms and seems to go away when torque is applied like going up a hill. I had probably waited too long to change my oil and I just changed it and it seemed to maybe help a little. Does anyone know what the sound might be?
- My car is making noise when I turn the wheel, what could be causing it? I put power steering fluid in and double checked it to make sure it was full, which it is. But whenever I turn the wheel it still makes a terrible noise, i almost want to not drive it anymore just because of that noise. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Is it the power steering pump maybe? If it helps, my car is a 2001 Ford Mustang, FWD. The noise is coming from the front of the car.
- Car is making creaking noise? I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE and it's been making a creaking noise when turning or hitting bumps/driving rougher roads. It's been to the mechanic a few times for the power steering recall and a damaged hub bearing and wheel due to hitting a pot hole. I was told by one mechanic that it needs new ball joints and lower control arms. Should I get a second opinion or is that the main cause of this noise? I recorded it and can send upon request. May post on YouTube too.
- Drove over hill too fast and car is making a thumping noise? I have a 2003 ford focus. Today I was driving and went to make a turn fast and went up a hill and it hit my car and made a loud noise. When pulled up my car started making a thumping noise I thought that it was the tire but when I popped the good and accelerated while in drive the engine was moving up it's still running fine but moving and making a thump when accelerating. What could be wrong with it please help.
