95 Ford Ranger gas hand stays on full after installing pump assembly. Intermediately worked before install. Doe's gauge need calibrating?

I had a fuel gauge problem it only worked every now and then it was a disconnected wire at sending unit causing the problem. The problem is before I found this out I started at the slosh module bypassing it this didn't solve the problem. I next replaced the sending unit assembly this is when I found the loose wire. After installing the unit the gauge now pegs past full I removed the bypass from slosh module and it pegged past empty, when I reinstalled the slosh module it pegged past full again. Should I try re-calibrating the gauge or something else? Gas hand slightly moves when ignition is turned on.

Unless your old Ranger has a sentimental value, you shouldn't spending any money on it at all. It's almost 25 years old now. Too many (other) things could go wrong. You'd be better off upgrading to a newer truck.

You did something to the Sender Rod or Float. The Float goes up and down with the fuel level. And when it doesn't the gage doesn't work.
