2000 Ford Ranger Misfiring?
I've got a 2000 Ford ranger 3.0 v6 that starting misfiring pretty bad yesterday. I had the code read and it said cylinders 4 and 6 were misfiring. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires about 2 weeks ago and have been driving it everyday with no problems until yesterday. Any ideas on what is causing it to misfire? Should I replace the two wires and plugs again or could it be the ignition coil or what? Any help is appreciated.
Probably the coil pack.
Do not guess. Troubleshoot. Check for spark with a spark tester. Check if the injectors are firing or getting command to fire with a noid light. Check for compression with a gauge.
What kind of spark plugs did you use?
Ford's take Motorcraft plugs.
Coils 'wear-our' eventually, replace them

- How much for a 2000 Ford Ranger? I have a 2000 Ford Ranger with a blown head gasket. It has a brand new radiator, the air works, and speakers and a head unit in it. Its a single cab. Trying to see how much i could get for it or at least how much to ask on craigslist.
- Does the oil pan have to be removed to change the rear main seal on a ford 3.0L V6 in a 2000 ford ranger? I have the engine removed from the truck and was swaping in a salvaged engine that all checks out good except for a slight leaking rear main seal. So, after inspecting the rear main seal, it appears as though a could just slide it out and a new one in. Does the oil pan need to be removed? Or can I just carefully remove the old seal and clean the surfaces good and install a new one?
