One car starts with clutch only, the other doesn't?

My dad's car is a Ford Mondeo mk3 2.0 Tddi Diesel. In this car it's quite easy to take off with relasing the clutch only. My car is a Skoda Fabia 1.8 Petrol it's impossible to take off like that. I have to accelerate to at least 2500 rpm. Why is this?

Because diesel engines provide much more torque than gasoline engines do.

You can't be much of a driver… Ot there's a problem with the skoda… But 2500revs is silly… Just over 1,000 should do it… Are you sure your in first gear?

The characteristics of a diesel engine over a petrol engine is that much more 'Torque' is produced at a much lower RPM.
