I'm looking to buy a 2002 Ford Mustang (automatic with 180k miles), are there any problems with it? Is it a good car to own? - 1
Everything checks out with the car, the engine works great, transmission is good, and my uncle (a former mechanic) says its in great shape and good for its price. A friend of mine told me that older Ford Mustangs have alot of problems and the car isn't worth it. Is this true? I've searched for hours and haven't found any information validating my friend s claim. Maybe someone who has owned the car or has worked on it has a better opinion for me. Any input would be helpful.
The mechanic who actually looked at it wins the argument in my book.
sure, at 180,000 miles there are risks. At that many miles and fifteen years old there are always risks. So a heater hose cracks or even the lower radiator hose? You can fix that.
a better question would be how big will you insurance bill be with that car?
Any car with a 180k miles on it is going to need ongoing repairs. With any 15 year old car with that kind of mileage it's to be expected. Don't think that you're going go get 50k trouble-free miles out of this thing. Expect to spend around $500-$800 a year in odd repairs every year in addition to regular maintenance. I had a 2003 Mustang GT (I traded it last year with 170k miles on it) during the last 4 months of ownership I spent around $1100 in repairs. It was never anything major, just several small repairs.
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
- Looking at trading my 2011 Ford with 80k miles in with an engine knock for a newer jeep Patriot with low miles, Roll 3k negative equity? Ford Fusion has developed and Engine Knock and another mechanical issue. Thinking about getting it repaired or trading it in for a newer Jeep Patriot with low mileage. I would have to roll $3000 of negative equity over to new loan. Any thoughts?
- Is a 2011 Ford Escape XLT with 155,000 miles on it a good used car to buy? The asking price is? $9,300 cash. Looking for a car that safe, reliable, won't flip when turning on sharp curves, upcoming and maintenance fairly inexperience, and will last a long time. The one thing that I'm weary about with this high is that the miles are extremely high for a 2011.
- I own a 2015 Ford Escape with 30,000 miles and runs good. My prior vehicle had over 150,000 miles and I used Gumout Regane high mileage fuel? System cleaner. I still have a bottle of the Gumout and wondering if I used it in the Escape, would the Gumout do any harm to it? I suppose I could wait until I get 75,000 miles on it before using but I'm a 3000-4000 miles a year driver and the Gumout would go bad before using it.
