2007 Ford mustang GT rear diff leak
I have a 07 mustang GT with a leaking rear differential and don't know why it's leaking my uncle says there's a vent at the top that is leaking but I think it needs a new gasket why would it be leaking anyone know?
Forgive me if I don't exactly know the layout of your car. Have you added any aftermarket accessories? When I installed Ar Headers to my Camaro, the exhaust pipes leaked a lot for awhile, even a bit further in. I also found that superchargers tend to have a similar consequence for awhile. Like I said, I'm not exactly sure where the problem is occurring on your car and am not familiar with the 2007 mustang layout.
There's a vent at the top, so it's possible that it could be full of water. Have the rear cover removed ( old diff oil STINKS! ), & if everything looks okay, put a new gasket on it & fill it back up with new oil. Also, I think that All Mustangs get a factory posi differential, & they might require some special oil additive.
How would we know? You're the one that can put the car in the air and actually inspect your rear diff to see if it's leaking from a vent, or from a gasket. So, get it back up in the air, get some cleaner, get a flashlight and GO LOOK.
- Ford ranger rear differential leak? I've noticed a couple weeks ago my differential is leaking on side closest to bumper. Not much. Stuck to the differential. Is there an additive I can use to stop the leak? Thank you in advance
- 2007 Ford Ranger rear end jerks on acceleration after a downshift at about 20 MPH? 2007 Ford Ranger 28,000 miles, 8.8" Rear axle 3:18 gears auto trans. Every now and then when I accelerate from around 20 MPH and the truck downshifts there's a small jerk in the rear end a second after the downshift. Is this normal? I just bought the truck and never had RWD before. If someone knows what the problem is that would be awesome!
- My 2000 Ford Windstar has a coolant leak. What could be causing it to leak? It has two leaks. One is from the passenger side near the front tire and the second is right below the driver's seat. I have to replace the coolant after I have had the heater on for a bit. I never have it on for more than 15 min. Not because the coolant runs out in that time but I just don't use it for long. I took it to the mechanic and he stated it was the "lower intake manifold gasket". I'm asking if anyone has any other ideas because that repair is pretty pricey.
