2002/4 Mustang V6 purchase
The time has come to pick out my first car. I'll skip all the details and just get straight to the point for you guys. After months of searching for a Ford Mustang (99-04), i have finally found the two that are suitable and I'm having a HUGE internal debate on which to get. I'm looking at a 2002 Ford Mustang V6 Automatic transmition with 160k miles, and a 2004 Ford Mustang 5spd. With 140k miles on it. I have a few people saying to stay away from the manual because all I will get is problems. They say it could have many small things and large that will break or need repair, and it will add up. I Really want a manual but if it will be issues than no. So my question is; which is the better choice?
Added (1). (5spd is V6 with leather interior. Automatic is V6 with cloth interior; I guess its a base)
Added (2). Please answer my question if you are to answer
Your biggest mistake is going for a V6 Mustang, then a V8.
Avoid any V6 Mustang made before model year 2005. The old ones were unreliable and underpowered. They are well known for head gasket problems, and 4-banger Toyotas outrun them in the quarter mile.
The 2005-2010 Mustang V6s are 4.0 liter units good for around 200 horsepower, and are much more reliable, and the 2011 and newer 3.7L engines actually make over 300 horsepower! The pushrod 3.8s used in the 2004 & older cars make about 140 horsepower, and are pure, unmitigated garbage.
My answer to your question is to not buy a V6 Mustang. If your heart is set on a 1999-2004, the V8s are much more reliable. Keep looking. If you rush into the first car you see, you may end up with a lemon with a blown head gasket.
- Which of these 3 cars should I purchase? And why? 22 years old, in New York. I'll be purchasing a new car in the next month and have decided between these 3 models/types. Which should I purchase and why? 2014 Ford Mustang V6 Premium 2014 BMW 335/535 Series 2013/2014 Mercedes-Benz E350/C350
- 2002 Honda Civic or 2002 Ford Mustang as first car? I'm debating on getting a Civic with nearly 30 mpg or a Mustang with nearly 20 mpg, and I also live in Indiana where we get around a foot of snow every year.
- Is it feasible to purchase a new car for myself? I recently got a new job (part time) and I will be making about $800 a month. I currently have a 2001 Ford Focus. My car has had a few repairs done. I'm not sure if it is worth buying a new car? Or should I keep my current car?
- Is a 2008 ford focus with 102,000 miles worth the purchase? I'm looking into used cars to buy for my first car and I found a used 2008 ford focus that I like with about 102000 miles on it. I've heard ford cars don't last that long, so is it a waste to buy a ford with that many miles? I'm going to be using it to drive too and from college, so mostly highway miles.
