Land Rover LR2 good first car?

I'm 15 getting my first car next year. I know your probably thinking spoiled or dumb choice, I suggest you save your breathe cause I really could care a less. I'm going to be responsible for insurance, gas, and maintenance. I wanna know what it'll cost me. I'm use to driving the bigger cars already so that's not an issue. My mom has an Infiniti FX35 and that's what I know. I have approx $13,000 to spend. My biggest concern is reliability. If your going to give me different car ideas don't say Toyota, Honda, Ford, or Chevy cause they're all cheap and ugly.

Land Rover is ranked forth to last of all automakers for reliability.

Land Rovers are notoriously unreliable. A good first car is one that is easy to master in all senses. That means a car that is easy to drive, maintain, insure and repair.
a land rover will not be easy to maintain and repair due to the fact that it is a luxury SUV.

expect to pay easily over $4000 a year on insurance alone. The 15,000 mile service at a dealer will cost around $500 and an oil change around $100.
depending on the model year an LR2 gets between 17 and 20 combined MPG. This is not good fuel economy.

add in the fact that these cars are not cheap to begin with and the LR2 becomes a nightmare for a first time owner especially one with a small budget like yours. You either need to be more "spoiled" (i don't care that other people are wealthy, do whatever makes you happy right?) or you need to choose something cheaper.

13k of your own money from jobs, or monetary gifts from family like at your bar mitzvah?

Trust me. 16 year olds don't need a land rover.

Land rovers break down a lot and get terrible MPG. So if you were wise you wouldn't get one.

I agree with you about Hondas and toyotas!

If you want something that's reliable and good looking, maybe look at something like an Acura, infinity or Lexus! Both cars have the power and luxury of a land rover, but have far better MPG and reliability!

  • I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
