Is a 2003 Ford Excursion a good first car?
I'm 16 and I'm looking to buy a car. I want a 2003 Ford Excursion Limited 4X4 with the Powerstroke diesel. The size doesn't bother me a bit. I like the looks and height of it. Is it a good first car? There's no way I'm riding around in some little hatchback shoebox.
Added (1). I found out that the diesel gets 18 mpg city.
Added (2). An Excursion seats 8. I just want the covered cargo spce when the third row seat is out and the second row folded flat.
Added (3). What blind spots? The only one I can think of is the spare tire integrated into the wall.
Ofcuz, you can go with it
No. You don't need an oversized vehicle. Do you have 7 kids to pick up? Do you need a trailer?
Get the much smaller, more easy to drive Ford Escape.
Maintenance can be pricy on a Powerstroke. Pretty huge blind spots for an inexperienced driver. There are some power upgrades to make it a monster. I would not choose it as a first car for MY child. IQ of driver drops with each passenger, a 12 seater pretty much guarantees stupidity.
Do you need a tank too get a round may get 18 mile too the gallon down hill with the off.
If it has the 7.3 go for it. Those motors run FOREVER. Expect it to last 500,000 miles or more. 18 is really good for a big truck.
You answered some of my concerns. Not on my preferred list. You may regret it later, but at least aware of some of the perceived drawbacks.
- Tow capacity on a 2003 Ford Excursion 6.0 diesel? I have a 6.0 diesel excursion and would like to know the tow capacity. It has a new torque converter, a new turbo, egr delete, a 4 inch exhaust, a 6 inch all suspension lift, and 38x16.5 tires.
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?

- Which car is a good first car? I'm a 16 year old guy and I'm currently looking for a car. I'm used to driving trucks and SUVs. The height helps avoid bumps. I don't want to sit on the ground. I need 4WD for the winter. I found 3 SUVs that I'm really interested in. -2000 Ford Explorer XLT -2004 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer -2005 Ford Expedition Limited -1999 Lincoln Navigator Which one is best? Which one should I get and why?
