It is deep inside the transmission. P0942 in a Freestyle is very bad news - you will be money ahead (but it won't feel like it) to take it to a transmission specialist to start with. See the source.
A repair manual should show it.
Most libraries have collections of car repair books.
Go have a look…
- What is a hydraulic pressure unit? Recently my husband and I got a code reader for our broken down 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL. The code it came up with was P0942, which is for a hydraulic pressure unit. I (nor my husband) have heard of this. I have looked it up with no luck. Does anyone know what they do and how much it would cost to fix?
- My transmission has failed due to a recalled part does Ford have to replace the whole transmission or just the recalled part? I have a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan one night when I was driving home the transmission went out on it while I was on the highway. After doing some research we found that the torque converter is a recalled part on this model. If the torque converter is the reason for the transmission failure does Ford have to replace my whole transmission as well or just the torque converter?
- 1996 Ford Escort oil pressure sending unit, thing? My '96 escort is leaking oil badly from a small unit on the backside of the engine. I was on RockAuto and found an oil pressure sender/switch and was wondering if this was the right part. There are two small wires coming off this unit that, to my best guess, are 24 gauge wire.
- Do I need an aftermarket head unit (car stereo) for my amp and subs for my 2008 Ford Escape? Since it's a newer suv would an aftermarket head unit be worth it? I already got an aux cord plug in.
