How Japanese cars are generally more reliable than other cars?
I know that's definitely true at the base level;
(Toyotas and Hondas for sure,
maybe to a lesser extent, Nissan)
American cars are just not as good.
and German cars are terrible…
is it also true at the luxury level?
(Lexus, Infiniti, Acura)?
I hear they are more reliable than German Cars for sure,
but American?
I found one source that says Lincoln (Ford's Luxury Division) is more reliable than Lexus (Toyota's Luxury Division):
Hard to believe, but true?
Ford is the company that made the PINTO ---- when I think Ford I think terrible.
but Lincoln perhaps stepping up Ford's game to a whole new level?
The Pinto was 40 years ago. Do we get to judge you based on what *you* did 40 years ago?
And anyway, if you're not buying right now, reliability is an utterly irrelevant consideration: what statistically happens to a make is no guarantee that it will happen to your one single car.
Japanese cars?
What are you talking about… The Honda Accord has nothing to do with Japan except the parent company happens to be a Japanese company. Designed in California… Made in Ohio for about the last 40 years.
I tend to judge each car by CR or CD. Or, on general reputation. Like, I'm leery of a Fiat 124 as Fiat had so much problems, all of them. The Miatas, a lot better. My old Mazda was a great car. Chryslers were the bee's knees in '60s, but CR/CD disses them, now. Still, I know a Pacifica runs great, 330K miles.
- Why don't American cars last as long as Japanese cars? My family has owned a Ford Taurus and a Nissan Altima of similar model years. Both cars are still running, but the Taurus has very low mileage (it's a 1999 with only 85,000 miles) and the interior is in horrible condition and the plastics Ford put in have been known for breaking. None of this has happened with the Altima, even though it has more miles. Why?
- Should i sell my japanese car to feel more American? One day i woke up and i realized i was born in America, so it would make sense to drive an American car. It feels more natural. I own a Honda but i want to buy a Ford. But i don't know if this is a good decision because asian cars are more reliable than american cars. Is this a good decision or do you consider this stupid, just a phase, and unnecessary in your opinion? The whole point of this is just to "feel more american"
- Do ford mustangs have tighter steering than other cars? I'm getting a 2000 ford mustang, my other car went and this one is in great shape. The steering is just tighter than any other vehicle I had, is that because it's a performance vehicle or something? It drives fine I just wasn't used to that. I barely even have to turn the wheel to take a turn, it's so sensitive too.
- Which one of these cars would generally last longer? Assuming that both cars are very well maintained, which would get the most life out of it? http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/5249970227.html or http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/5250364940.html I was told that Honda's last a million times longer that Ford's but the mileage gap between the two greatly favors the Focus
