Ford 3.0 engine leaks coolant through water pump bolt hole. Cracked block?

Ford 3.0 engine leaks coolant through water pump bolt hole. Cracked block? - 1

Not likely - More likely the gasket needs replaced…

Remove the bolt, clean it, wrap the threaded portion with gas fitters teflon tape (the yellow stuff), and reinstall the bolt.

That bolt… The one that came out shows electrolytic corrosion?
looked ok but had orange sealer on it?
You had to order new bolts?
Your timing cover looks cavitated?
You are using MOTORCRAFT? Or FORD parts?
comparisons will prove they are the best choice.
Are you reading up on your engine updates?
Service bulletins?

Or are you a shade tree, or just a homowner?

You have some homework to do. Bulletins for corrections have been issued throughout that engines years about degredation from electrolytic corrosion.
Specific sealers have been specified to halt it, and recalls for hoses and tubes and fittings exist. There's grounding issues and coolant readings your dealer can take.

You can patch it up with "the right stuff" or engine assembly liquid teflon sealer
and take it to be inspected and corrected by a tech who knows the experience and corrects it without trying to minimize it.
Then tell you it needs to go away, and you can trade it in.
But you have that option.

Whatever year this engine is…

Feel free to update, or question your favorite Ford tech.

  • Coolant leaking from strange hole under alternator, what is supposed to go there? My 97 Ford Taurus is leaking coolant from that hole but I don't know what is supposed to connect there.
  • Tstat Ford 94 Mustang: broken bolt, drilled new hole for a bolt? Replacing thermostat in my car when the bolt broke leading us to need to drill a new place for another bolt right next to the old one. Will drilling this and placing a new bolt, hold the thermostat in place and work to keep my car from over heating? I have no idea if doing this will work…
  • I have a 95 ford mustang that is leaking oil and coolant both appear to be separate leaks? The engine is a 3.8L v6. The car is difficult to start, usually on the 5th try it starts. After long periods of driving it stalls out and has to sit for a couple hours. It has a new TPS and a new idle air control valve and just had the oil changed
  • Bolt broke in block. What can I do? I have a 2010 ford f350 with the 6.4l. The wires for the egr temperature output sensor were ripped out of the sensor. So I went to replace the sensor. Well it snapped off. What can I get it out with? Can't use easy out or anthing. The bolt and sensor are two separate pieces and so the sensor is still there stabbing through the bolt. What can I do? If your trying to recall which sensor this is it is behind the passenger side head. Here is a picture of the sensor.
