Tstat Ford 94 Mustang: broken bolt, drilled new hole for a bolt?

Replacing thermostat in my car when the bolt broke leading us to need to drill a new place for another bolt right next to the old one. Will drilling this and placing a new bolt, hold the thermostat in place and work to keep my car from over heating? I have no idea if doing this will work…

The proper way is to drill in the exact center of the broken bolt and using an extractor remove the what's left of the broken bolt. Then using the proper tap re-tap the holes threads.
cleaning bolts and threaded holes with tap and die set and or replacing worn hardware can save time!

Get a nut that is about the inside is as big as bolt. Then weld broken bolt to nut let it cool off a little and then unscrew it. Youtube it and see how its done. I would not drill next to it.

The ONLY way is to get the broken bolt out which a whole bunch of dudes can do easily. One of those dudes is a friend, a friends friend, uncle, cousin, last mechanic you went to… Whatever. So go ask The rest is easy because the person that knows how to get the bolt out also knows how to finish the job. The bolts align the hole in the block with the hole in the hose. Holes that are not lined up don't work real good. If for some reason you missed that, go look at it again. It will jump right out and say hello.

And just how in the hell are you planning on getting the bolt going through the thermostat housing to line up with the hole you drilled? You have to remove the broken bolt.
