Why are my brakes locking up on my 2006 Ford Focus while driving?
The calipers and brake pads have been replaced, but the brakes still lock up to the point of smoking wheels and the smell of burning metal. Also, when the brakes lock up the air conditioning blows hot air. It's very weird. Any ideas?
Sometimes the brake hose collapses internaly, which you can't tell, but, by replacing solves the problem
There can be only one reason for brakes locking up - improper installation, clearly if the brakes still lock up then the cause wasn't the calipers maybe you need a new master cylinder or the servo is leaking causing the brakes to be applied
Good info here some similar to my problem, but didn't cover why I have to wet my wheel with water to free my need brakes, pads, and rotors. I need to know why splashing a lot of water temporarily fixes things. The wheel, caliper, or brake steams like crazy from the water thrown on it.

- Why my car stops accelerating while driving? Have a Ford Fussion 2007. I was driving at about 40MPH and my car suddenly stops moving like if it was on neutral it accelerate by it self wth out moving even though it was on drive. I pulled over, turn it off and started again and it took me back home normally but now it did it again I took it to a mechanic and he put it in the computer but he says nothing is showing it seems that everything is ok but that car now is not moving! It only goes on reverse or low driving but not drive
- Just pulled front brakes of 96 ford ranger xl and now scraping noise while driving? Pulled front brakes off my truck to see how wore out they were because they were squeeling put them back on perfectly no hassle and now when I drive I hear a horrible scraping noise on right front passenger side but I stop on a dime and my brakes don't get hot or smell I'm so confused please help?
- Ford Mustang v6 abs/ traction control light on and brakes are locking up? I was driving yesterday and the abs and traction control light came on so I pulled over and shut off the car, I tried starting it again and the battery was dead. I got the car jumped and drove it about a mile and the brakes just started locking up and the cars lights were flashing, none of my Gage s were working and it said I have no gas when my gas tank was full. - Why won't my 2006 Ford Fusion accelerate while the a/c is on? My car has 198,000 miles. We had to replace the engine a couple years ago, the replacement engine had 68,000 miles when we put it in. In the past 4 months it has become a nightmare to drive. It WILL NOT accelerate while the a/c is on. What can I do about this? It's driving me insane, Texas heat and a car that I can't drive with the air on sucks!
