Why won't my 2006 Ford Fusion accelerate while the a/c is on?
My car has 198,000 miles. We had to replace the engine a couple years ago, the replacement engine had 68,000 miles when we put it in. In the past 4 months it has become a nightmare to drive. It WILL NOT accelerate while the a/c is on. What can I do about this? It's driving me insane, Texas heat and a car that I can't drive with the air on sucks!
Does that have a WOT cutout relay? Substitute another relay to eliminate that possibility?
I think the ac system can be diagnosed with self test codes,
as well as the engine management system.
A compressor that drags can also be at fault. I'm not aware of a
known problem. You could try a cold short road test with no belt.
Perhaps something had to change during the engine work?
Your ford dealer can tell you if this has been happening
enough to generate service bulletins.
Look into what climate control modes makes the compressor run.
Then look into what setting(s) you experience the power loss.
What's different, and when. Then formulate your tests for a diagnosis.
- Car won't accelerate, but rpms increase? I replace my alternator on Saturday and starting that same day my car has had problems accelerating. When I hit 10mph, the rpms shoot to 4000 and I have to ease off the gas pedal. Occasionally this is accompanied by a groaning noise. I made sure that the connections to the alternator were secure, but I'm not sure what the problem could be. The car is a 1997 Ford Taurus. I would really appreciate any advice.
- My ford 500 limited series won't pick up speed when i try to accelerate. I was told it was my air intake system? A mechanic told me to replace the throttle body. I'm not too educated on cars but i know i would have to buy the throttle body, hose, and maybe gasket. Few questions, is the gasket important to replace as well? Besides those listed part is there something else i need to get?
- Why are my brakes locking up on my 2006 Ford Focus while driving? The calipers and brake pads have been replaced, but the brakes still lock up to the point of smoking wheels and the smell of burning metal. Also, when the brakes lock up the air conditioning blows hot air. It's very weird. Any ideas?
- My car won't accelerate after a spark plug change? So I changed my spark plugs bit now my car won't accelerate I have a ford escape 06 3.0. While I was changing my spark plugs I unplugged a few hoses from the intake manifold but I plugged them all back in right. I'm gonna put the old spark plugs back to see if they were defective. Is that a possibility? The car turns on but when I step on the gas it won't accelerate at all. But it moves at 2 - 5mph of course. What are other possibilities for this kind of problem.
