What to do with a recently bought lemon car in nyc that the dealership can't fix?

After two weeks of purchasing a 2012 Ford Focus, I had to get it towed to the dealership to get it fixed. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. A day later, it stopped on me again but I was able to drive it to a Ford service garage this time. They found electrical problems with the car. Spent three hours at the dealership because I would have to pay out of pocket if Ford fixed it as the manufacturer's warranty has ended but the dealership said to come back because they needed an entire day to fix it.

I left the car with them and said that it should be fixed the next day… That was a week ago. I've been calling them several times a day and the same thing keeps happening. They need to talk to the mechanic or the service person who was helping me and that they would call me back. No one has called me back Right now I want a refund but I'm not sure about how to go about it. Based on NY used car lemon law, I feel like I'm entitled to a full refund but I'm not sure if I should wait 15 days of not having the car first before initiating the process.

Either salvage what you can, sell it, or throw it in the dump.

Its a used car. Very few states have lemon laws for used cars.

Your chances of a refund are near zero. They will figure out the problem & fix it and you will owe them for repairs.

Lemon laws are for BRAND NEW cars where you have taken it in THREE or more times for the same thing.

I had a car that wouldn't crank from time to time and my mechanic never could figure it out. I called the dealer and they knew exactly what it was. I bought the part, my guy replaced it and it solved the problem.

A used car needing a repair is not a lemon.
