How to fix my side view mirror for cheap?
Recently, I accidentally ran into some bushes when my back window was all fogged up, and knocked my side view mirror clean off my car. I still have the mirror itself- the plastic housing and glass are totally fine, it just kinda snapped off of the car. The cables, obviously, are broken. I'm a pretty poor student and I can't afford to have it professionally fixed for a while, but I'm worried I'll get pulled over or fined or something of that nature for not having the mirror on the car. If I could just fix it temporarily, even that would work well for me- preferably something incredibly cheap I could use to just get the mirror to stay on until I can afford to have it repaired. Even better would be if someone could walk me through or direct me to a way to repair the mirror I already have, with the cables and such being as they are. I don't have a lot of experience with cars, but I'm good with repairing things in general, and I'd definitely like to try if I can. For reference: my car is a 2005 Ford Focus, if that makes a difference.
You can tape the mirror/housing back on the vehicle using duct tape or gorilla tape (it is stronger). I have done this and it worked well as the tape was almost the color of the car. Be neat about it so it will not be easily noticed. Cost - price of the tape. You will find many uses for duct tape.
You can purchase a used mirror/housing from a junk yard (hopefully the same color as your vehicle). I replaced a Dodge Intrepid mirror/housing for $35. You will probably need to remove the interior door panel to access the electrical connection and bolts that hold the mirror/housing to the vehicle. It will probably take you an hour to do this.
If mirror/housing difficult to locate it will cost more. Had to replace mirror/housing on my wife's car and had to have the mirror housing painted. Cost $120 for the mirror and $80 for the painting and repair done at a collision shop. The garage door post got in her way.
Um, okay then. You don't really need side mirrors. Just sayin, since you didn't use them to spot the bushes behind you

- How to replace the side view mirror on a 1999 Ford Taurus? Something hit my passenger side mirror as I drove down the highway. The glass came off completely, which was easy to replace, but you can no longer adjust it because it doesn't respond to the power controls. I'm not sure how to get inside to see what's loose or broken. Any suggestions?
- Ford Focus 2004 Passenger side mirror unattached? The passenger side mirror fell off, does anyone know quick ways to temporarily reattach, even in the cold? It's only holding by a few wires. Would it damage it if I were to drive it with it hanging? (Currently an average of 20 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Average cost to replace side mirror done by Ford Dealership? Hello everyone had a late night accident coming back from work and knocked off my driver side mirror if my 2014 ford fiesta. Brought it into the Ford dealership, just want to know if the price they quoted for parts and labor seems alright. They charged 333.39 for the mirror itself and said it would be an additional 120 to actually part it on the car. Does that seem a little high? I understand doing it at a dealership costs more, but I needed my car fixed quickly.
- Popping noise in rear wheels when I shake my truck side to side. What would cause this sound? I have a 2003 ford f150 xlt supercrew and when i turn sometimes it sounds like something falls over in my bed of my truck.( i have nothing in the bed of my truck) so i had someone shake my truck side to side while i climbed under the back by the rear end, and found that my rear wheels (both sides) make a popping noise. What could this be?
