How do I know just what kind of antifreeze/coolant to buy for my 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon?

I know I need a 50/50 but what color?

Maybe you should READ the Owners Manual…

There are two things, both available on the internet. The car manual and buying from a auto parts website will give you the correct information.

One with the word 'universal' on the container.

Buy Advance Auto antifreeze that is compatible with all antifreeze types.
Why do you need antifreeze? If your antifreeze is low you have a leak the needs to be repaired.

When you go to the auto parts store, give them the year, make and model and they will tell you the right kind.

Will be in owners manual. Any ford dealer can advise plus this information is easily obtainable on internet. It is fairly important NOT to mix different antifreeze through. On a side note w can always change to waterless coolant? Used by racing teams and companies such as Aston Martin. Benefits you can check for self ( look up Evans waterless coolant) plus you NEVER need to change it.

  • What kind of coolant should I use? 1987 Ford Econoline E-250 conversion van. I live in Florida and it easily gets over 100 degrees F in summer. I have never done a coolant flush/change, but it seems pretty easy. What coolant would be best to use on this vehicle? BTW: I this van has not been driven in years, so everything needs to be changed.
  • 2002 ford taurus coolant bubbling out of coolant tank cap? Coolant is bubbling out of the tank cap on my taurus. The coolant is a bit over the fill to line. The coolant is the normal green color. I don't think it having a bit of extra coolant in the tank is doing this. The cap itself maybe? I just bought this car and it didn't do this until today.
  • 1999 Ford Taurus SE Wagon coolant leak? For a few weeks we have been having a mixture of coolant and oil on the ground. Today while doing the oil change and replacing the plug and gasket (which solved the leak) I notices whatever is right above the oil pan has a drop of antifreeze (diluted) coming off it about every thirty seconds. What part is this?
  • Why does the motor on my 2001 Ford Focus SE Wagon make a shuddering noise when I'm in idle? It sounds like it wants to stall but doesn't and my gas mileage is not good. The last mechanic put after market motor mounts on but it still does this. Any ideas? I love my little car with less than 65,000 miles on it and in good shape otherwise.
