Focus ST, good first new car?

I've had a couple used cars, a 2001 ford taurus and a 2001 mustang GT and i'm finally looking at new cars. The focus ST caught my eye for a couple reasons. Its practical and has lots of room inside but is also pretty quick, only a little behind my mustang in power. I plan on keeping it mostly stock except a flowmaster exhaust, love the sound of them and have put them on my mustang end even got one to fit on my taurus XD and they make a flowmaster kit specifically for this car. All in all it seems like a good car i will have fun with for a long time. I don't want to make the mistake my friends did and buy a cheap weak new car just to say they have a new car then end up not liking it then they are stuck with a new car they don't want to hold on to. And yes as you may have noticed about my history with cars, i only buy ford. I would get a new GT if i could afford it, but i can't XD

Focus has a better reputation than Taurus or mustang. But I wouldn't modity anything. It doesn't add value.

The first Generation of Focus, when they came out, were incredible little cars! I worked for delivery company who got the Focus hatchbacks as fleet cars, and they were little rockets! With 5 spd tranny, we'd get out onto freeway, and we'd be up to 75-85 in no time, and it felt like you were going 55 mph.
Loved them!

The new focus st is absolutely brilliant. It's very quick and you will love the handling. I would say definitely go with it, you wouldn't regret it. In regards to your exhaust idea, correct me if I'm wrong but I tend to believe that a loud exhaust from a small size engine tends to produce a more high pitched annoying sound when compared to say a v8 rumble or even from a v6. It's up to you, I personally love adding aftermarket exhausts to cars but when it comes to small size engine cars, maybe confirm what the sound is like before you actually go through with it. Read about it on forums if it produces any drone or anything like that and then see if there are any YouTube videos that let you listen to that exhaust setup on the focus. All in all, good luck and definetly go with the focus st. It's Absolutely Brilliant

  • I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?
  • Good first car for new driver? I'm almost 16 and my parents want your opinions. Would a 2005 Ford Mustang (not a gt) be an okay car for a teen? Or would there be too much power? Also if you have a mustang: How fast do they go? Any reoccurring problems linked to mustangs?
  • Good first car? NSX? Muscle Car? I'm 15 and starting to think of some cars that I would want (and are possible to obtain, '67 Pontiac GTO '68 Roadrunner Hemi '70 Ford Torino '79 Firebird Formula 400 '85-'90 Camaro '67 Impala '73 Nova '78 Camaro '66 Oldsmobile Toronado So, would the value of the NSX be worth buying and fixing up? And which, if any, muscle car is the top of your list and why?
  • Is a Ford Focus a good first car? It would be a new 2014 titanium. Our family friend works for a dealer and could get us a great deal on one.
