Brand new Ford Focus or Honda Fit?
Looking for my first new car and ready to buy this weekend. I've looked at everything on the market and have finally narrowed it down to two specific cars. This is replacing a 2005 Ford Focus that was an awesome car, and looking for something equally fun to drive, roomy, and quirky and offbeat (it was bright yellow)
Here are the two options:
OPTION 1: A 2015 Honda LX in blue with manual. MSRP is $16300, dealer is willing to sell it for $15991. Likes are the color, roominess, simplicity of controls, and the nimble feel. Dislikes are that it's an import, a little cheap feeling around the edges, and some of the styling touches (why are there two big holes punched out in the rear bumper?)
OPTION 2: A 2014 Ford Focus SE hatch in ruby red and manual. MSRP is $21,110, dealer took it down to $19028 and brought in $5000 in rebates (regular rebate+owner loyalty+college student+FMC offer+bonus cash) bringing the price down to $14028. Likes are the driving dynamincs, quiet interior, features, and solid feel. Dislikes are the massively wide console, cramped rear seat, and it's not very quirky (but a friend mentioned that I could even do a full vehicle wrap in a more vivid color)
Give each a test drive and go for the one that you feel comfortable in the most. I personally like the styling of the Ford, but it's hard to beat the resale value the Honda will eventually have
P.S The fact that the Honda is an import shouldn't be frowned upon. Country of origin shouldn't affect your choice, it's just a dumb criteria in my opinion. Why do people care so much on where their car is from?
This is going to come down to a personal preference.
Keep in mind the Fit will hold it's resale value MUCH better. Of course if you plan on keeping it for 9 years like your current vehicle, this doesn't much matter.
Hard to believe Ford has that much room to come down.
Or they are keeping the rebate and you don't know it or something.
They are both good first 5 years, but after that honda would be much better.

- Do you think the Brand New Ford ranger needs more engine options? I think the 2.3 Ecoboost is very capable, but in many cases, stronger engines distinguish more premium (or) sportier trims from the Base trim. Do you feel that higher priced trims need a V6 to compete against others in the segment?
- Purchasing a Brand New Ford Focus ZTEC S 1.0L 125PS? First time purchasing so apologies for my ignorance, the papers we signed on Saturday for the car said it was a Ford Focus ZTEC S 1.0L 125PS EcoBoost and the colour was a Deep Impact Blue, my wife went in on Monday to sign the loan papers and those papers (Pre-Contract Credit Information) say that car is a Ford Focus ZTEC S Na 1.0 125ps, does not mention the color or if its a EcoBoost, is this something to chase up with the dealer?
- My dealership told me to change my oil at 10,000 miles on my brand new ford fiesta? I have a 2013 ford fiesta and my dealership told me that my car only needs to be changed every 10,000 miles.so before my first oil change, I waited til 10,000 miles. Then I was told that my dealership was wrong and now i've been doing it after every 3,000 miles. But i'm wonderin since I changed it after the first 10,000 miles, could that have messed up my engine somehow? It was brand new when I got it. Only had 25 miles on it
- Ford Fiesta, Chevy Sonic, Hyundai Accent, Honda Fit, Kia Rio, Mazda2? These subcompact cars are all so similar. I can't decide which one is best. - Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback - Chevy Sonic LS Hatchback - Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback - Honda Fit - Kia Rio LX - Mazda 2 Which one would you choose and why? Which one would you not choose and why?
