Do you think the Brand New Ford ranger needs more engine options?
I think the 2.3 Ecoboost is very capable, but in many cases, stronger engines distinguish more premium (or) sportier trims from the Base trim. Do you feel that higher priced trims need a V6 to compete against others in the segment?
Not at all
paying big coin foor obselete engine choices
The 2.3 EcoBoost is NOT a capable engine and is a "budget" option.
I would agree with that.
The issue is that the new Ranger is heavily based on the on euro-spec T6 Ranger. It's engine bay was designed to accommodate inline engines only. For a V6 or V8 option, the front end of the truck would have be redesigned. It's not as easy as it sounds because most of the systems were designed to be complimentary to each other and changing the engine bay design would necessitate changing out the steering and suspension as well. With that said, I'm sure that if if the market demanded something like the 2.7L/3.0L Ecoboost V6, Ford would make it happen, and when the Ranger is up for revisions, I'm sure that's something that will be considered.
- My 2008 ford ranger Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged/press. What are my options? I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. Is my only option to replace the clutch or can it be adjusted? If anybody could link a repair manual to a 2008 ford ranger that would be awesome. I tried google and torrent sites but had no luck
- Can I use synthetic in a brand new engine? I just rebuilt an engine for a 91 ford ranger 2.3L. My manual says to use 5w-20 conventional but since there have been some advancements in the synthetic oils since the 70's, do I need to worry about seal swell or shrink? My instinct is to just use conventional to play it safe, but I'd really like to use synthetic. I'm reading conflicted information…

- Is it cheaper to buy a car that needs work? Read more? I want either a 1967 chevy impala or a 1972 ford pick up. Would it be cheaper to buy a car that needs some work or a car that doesn't need any work? My moms friend is a mechanic and he would do work for me cheaper than if i went to a regular mechanic and got work done.
